Mini-Term, published by tauri-app and currently at version 1.2.9 with 81 recorded versions, is a desktop terminal manager built for the AI era. Designed as an AI terminal management tool, it supports multi-project and multi-terminal layout management across Windows, macOS, and Linux, with configurable shells including cmd, PowerShell, pwsh, zsh, bash, and sh. Its terminal core offers tab management per project with drag-and-drop reordering, recursive horizontal and vertical split panes with adjustable ratios, and high-performance rendering via xterm.js v6 with WebGL acceleration that automatically falls back to Canvas. It preserves up to 100,000 lines of scrollback by intercepting ED3 clear-screen commands from AI TUIs such as Claude and Codex, caches terminal instances so content survives tab or pane switches, and provides keyboard and context-menu copy-paste with safeguards such as chunked pasting on Windows, automatic conversion of long clipboard text into temporary file paths, screenshot-to-PNG pasting, and drag-and-drop file path insertion. Mini-Term also features AI process awareness: it polls child processes every 500 milliseconds to detect Claude or Codex sessions, aggregates idle, working, and error states from panes up through tabs and projects, and delivers completion alerts via toast notifications, DONE badges, and taskbar flashing or Dock bouncing, each independently configurable. It detects session entry and exit, reads local AI session histories for quick resumption, and lets users mark and navigate AI task checkpoints within the terminal. Project management includes a sidebar project list with nested grouping up to three levels, drag-and-drop folder addition, an integrated file tree honoring nested .gitignore rules with real-time refresh, in-tree file operations, and one-click opening of projects in a user-configured VS Code executable. Git integration displays file status colors for modified, added, deleted, and conflicted files.
